No matter which Mario game you choose, there are tons of odd creatures that you come across. If you are a fan of Super Mario RPG like I am, you probably remember Belome. He is the king of the Kero Kero Sewers and he loves to eat. He loves to eat so much, he tends to swallow members of your party so you can’t use them. This, of course, is a bit of a problem when you are in battle and you are trying to defeat an enemy. What makes Belome the greatest character in all of the Mario games is the hilarious lines he spouts about “The Hunger!” You often hear this bizarre line moments before he swallows you whole.
With the new Super Mario Galaxy 2 game coming out, I think it is finally time for the designers to take Belome out of mothballs and put him back to work. After all, when was the last time Mario had an enemy that wanted to swallow him whole, only to burp him back up again a few minutes later? I almost died laughing the first time I fought (and lost) to Belome. You can bet I won’t be taking him lightly ever again.
