Sometimes, you remember a video game character because they are fun to play or you remember a boss because they challenge you to no end and you finally manage to beat them after the 100th try. In the case of Croco from Super Mario RPG, you remember him because he drives you absolutely insane. In case you have blocked out this bad guy, he is the little purple crocodile that steals Mallow’s frog coin. Mario, having just teamed up with Mallow, is forced to track down Croco. The only problem is, it takes forever, and he taunts you ever step of the way. By the time you finally catch him, you are ready to scream and put your fist through the screen. I give credit to the designers here for crafting an easy enemy that manages to get you so excited so early on in the game. Just when you think you have gotten rid of him, however, he comes back throughout the game, always causing havoc and making you angry. When I buy Super Mario Galaxy 2 soon, I hope Croco is up to his old tricks. It is fun to fight an enemy that manages to get to you so much.
