Playing Super Mario Bros. 3 for the first time was a religious experience for most of us. Just when we thought we had seen all of the cool new bad guys, a new one would appear and leave us scratching our heads on how to beat them. The Angry Sun, found in the second world in SMB 3 has likely claimed more lives than any other villain who only appears for such a short period of time. You also found the Angry Sun in the SMB Super Show cartoon. The folks at Nintendo knew how cool the Angry Sun was so they put it in the animated show to hype up the whole franchise even more.
I can only hope that a new incarnation of the Angry Sun appears in the newest group of games. I am going to go out and buy Super Mario Galaxy 2 soon, and I hope that the Angry Sun greets me with a tough level that takes me a week to beat. As much as I hate to say it, the simple Angry Sun is one of the coolest, or more like the hottest, villain Mario ever faces. I can’t wait to see what they do with his character next.
