When the Wii came out I was actually pretty skeptical. It seemed like everything they were saying about it, how it could sense the motion that you used with your hands as long as you were holding on the controller, were things that couldn’t possibly be real. I had even convinced myself not to buy one, because it seemed like a fad and a complete waste of money. Then I played one at my uncle’s house and got hooked! I was even more hooked when I realized, quite happily, that they were bringing the Mario games over to the Wii.
I’ve always loved Mario games. They’ve been a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine since I was young. I like playing other games too, don’t get me wrong, but for some reason the Mario games are really addictive to me. I’ve beaten all of the games a number of times, and probably will beat them a few more times before I’m done. But I’m a bit worried about the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Wii game that’s being produced.
I loved the graphics on the first Galaxy – the Wii made it possible or them to be very nice indeed. But the controls? I’m not sure if I liked them. I really feel like the designers could do a lot more with the Wii controls than they have been doing. I mean, why can’t they have us do more shaking, or rolling, or even using it as a flashlight as one of the other Mario games did? This would definitely make it more interesting to play, in my opinion.
Regardless of whether or not the controls change with Super Mario Galaxy 2 Wii, I’m still looking forward to it. Any chance to get to play Mario in an adventure game, and not in one of the sports games, is something that I definitely want to take advantage of. I think I’ll keep Mario my guilty little pleasure for as long as the designers keep making games for him, no matter how old I happen to get!
